Bobbie Varble
Vice President
Madrik (leader) Sukkot
Bobbie and her husband Mike joined the JSC in the 70's for the school, in order to provide their sons with a non-traditional Jewish education. Both kids were Bar Mitzvah-ed in the 80's, at which time Bobbie became interested in movement building and enrolled in the newly-formed Institute for Secular and Humanistic Judaism. After her ordination in 1992, she spent the next 3 decades performing weddings, baby-namings, and other Jewish life-cycle events, as well as becoming a mentee of Sherwin Wine and ultimately co-President of the International Federation of Secular and Humanistic Jews. That position kindled her love of travel. Since retiring from her picture-framing business in 2003, she has continued to travel for fun while exercising her Jewish muscles in the Cleveland JSC. She's pleased to now serve as Vice-President and hopes that her 50+ years in the secular Jewish movement will prove useful to our Board and membership.
