Rona Weiss

Co-President

Rona Weiss grew up on Long Island, celebrating Jewish holidays with her family and neighbors in a secular way. She graduated from the University at Albany and taught business and language arts in Shaker Heights schools for 36 years, earning a master's degree and additional certifications. Since discovering the Jewish Secular Community in 1980, Rona has become deeply involved, hosting events, serving on various committees, and co-chairing with Ellen Schwartz as co-presidents to increase membership and foster a welcoming environment for all.​

Ellen Schwartz, a retired educator from Ohio, spent 28 years teaching and earned a master's in Reading and a certificate in Learning Disabilities. She has been married for 60 years to Harvey and has a son, daughter, four grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. Volunteering is a passion for Ellen, and as Co-president with Rona Weiss, she aims to increase membership, attract younger volunteers, and help them take on leadership roles at JSC.​​
