About the event
Step into the extraordinary world of Anatoly Kaplan (1902–1980), one of the few Soviet Jewish artists permitted to officially create art reflecting Jewish culture during the Soviet era. Created between 1954 and 1957, The Enchanted Tailor series serves as a defining achievement of Kaplan's career, translating the depth, emotion, and nuance of Yiddish prose into a captivating visual language.
Structured through richly composed sheets that incorporate Jewish folk art traditions, gravestone carvings, and integrated Hebrew typography, Kaplan’s work preserves the vibrant memory and soul of a vanished shtetl world.
