Shabbat Dinners / Adult Education Programs

Our once-a-month Friday night Shabbat dinners and adult education programs are among our  most popular events.  Drawing near-capacity crowds of members and their guests, this friendly get-together takes place on the third Friday of every month at Fellowship Hall of the First Unitarian Church in Shaker Heights.  A brief Shabbat service and potluck dinner is followed by our guest speaker for the evening.  Speakers are drawn from the arts, government, academia and the religious community, who cover a wide-range of thought-provoking topics.  This past year, we learned about …teaching the Holocaust to non-Jews; the implications of climate change; the history of the Yiddish theatre; and the future of Cleveland /NE Ohio.
